Laser Assisted Male Breast Reduction Surgery
The Latest Solution to Male Breasts (Gynecomastia)

Laser Male Breast Reduction | Long Island | Queens | Nassau County | Suffolk CountyIn today's competitive job market, it's important to look your best. More and more men are electing to have cosmetic surgery; a trend that studies have shown is tied to career advancement.

It is an undisputed fact that the way we look matters in life and that physical attractiveness was important for power and success on the job.

Gynecomastia, a medical word from the Greek words for "woman-like-breasts" affects one out of every ten men as well as a number of adolescents. Many men avoid swimming or sporting activities because they have excessive fat on their chests that makes it look like they have breasts.

Enlarged breasts on young boys last only a few years and are generally resolved by age 18. Enlarged breasts on a man, however, can be uncomfortable, as well as socially and psychologically devastating.

There is no known cause of gynecomastia although, depending upon the proportion of fat and gland tissue in the breast may be associated with obesity, hormonal metabolism imbalance, liver disease or medicinal causes.

If you are a man who is self-conscious about an over-developed chest or male breast, laser liposuction with or without removal of residual gland tissue to reduce the breast may be your solution. The size of the breasts is reduced by laser liposuction with or without excision of residual gland tissue. The result is a flatter, firmer, and better-contoured chest.

At Advanced Medical Laser Body Reshaping, Dr. Asare uses advanced laser technology with or without excision of residual gland tissue to reduce overdeveloped male breast (ie gynecomastia) and improve your self esteem.

Is Breast Reduction Reduction Surgery For You?

During your conference with Dr. Asare, he will explain your goals and expectations of the surgery. Dr. Asare will assess the nature of your breasts and the degree of skin laxity to determine the cause of your breast enlargement. It may be caused by predominantly fatty tissue and or glandular tissue.

Dr. Asare will show you some before and after treatment photographs of patients having similar breasts. He will explain the best method of treatment for you and the outcome you should anticipate.

Laser Assisted Male Breast Reduction Surgery

If your gynecomastia (male breast) is primarily caused by fatty tissue, laser liposuction alone is usually sufficient to correct the problem.

Laser liposuction of male breast is performed under local anesthesia (you will be awake) on an out patient basis. There is minimal swelling and bruising as well as minimal downtime. The surgery can take from 3 to 4 hours depending on the complexity of the procedure. The procedure involves insertion of a tiny laser fiber through a tiny incision into the breast to melt fat. Then a straw-like cannula is inserted to suction out the fat and gland tissue using a vacuum suction system. The result is a re-sculpting of bulging breasts into more attractive contours.

Combination Approach to Treatment

In some cases Dr. Asare will combine laser liposuction with surgical excision of residual gland if your male breast has more glandular tissue in it.

A small incision is placed at the edge of the areola(colored part of the nipple) to cut away the excess glandular tissue.

In extreme cases of gynecomastia with excessive skin laxity, excess skin may also have to be excised.

What is Recovery from Male Breast Reduction Surgery?

It is advised that you rest for the remainder of the day following your surgery, and limit your physical activity for a couple of days. For the first two weeks following your surgery, you will wear a special compression garment. Some men experience a mild degree of swelling, bruising and tenderness which should subside in a short time. In most cases discomfort associated with the surgery can be controlled with Tylenol alone. You may return to work in about 3 days while avoiding strenuous physical activities for two weeks.

Following your breast reduction surgery, you will enjoy a new, more pleasing shape. Many of our patients say their surgery enhanced their self-confidence.
